The weather is warming up, the azaleas have bloomed and the days are longer – it’s officially spring in Savannah! With spring comes change, and Savannah is certainly shaking things up a bit with new, exciting and unique events for the whole family. April is packed with great Savannah events, so matter what week you’re visiting, you’ll definitely find an event that’s right for you.

1. Spring Celebration and Sheep Sheering
Head over to Oatland Island for a family-friendly day filled with the great outdoors, historical talks, food and sheep sheering! Parents and children will witness the transformation of wool – from the sheep’s body to the finished product! Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in many activities including carding, spinning and weaving. Activities include children’s crafts and games and 1800s lifestyle demonstrations.

2. The Savannah Music Festival
Since 1989, the Savannah Music Festival takes over the city in March, bringing in world-class artists from around the globe. Each year, the festival brings over 350 of the world’s finest acts to Savannah. The festival emphasizes arts education by hosting specific productions by young musicians and school jazz bands across the nation. Musicians like Bruce Aldophe, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi and Allen Toussaint have all performed at this timeless and adventurous festival.

3. Wine Dinner @ 39 Rue de Jean
39 Rue de Jean has partnered with Cass Wines for a 6-course wine dinner. The chef has put together a delicious specialty menu for one night only to highlight the best 39 Rue de Jean‘s has to offer. Each course is carefully partnered with a different, delightful wine. Availability is limited, so be sure to RSVP!

Get a little yoga with your beer! An instructor from Dancing Dogs Yoga will help you reward your body with a light-hearted yoga class. Immediately following the yoga session, each attendee will receive 6 samples of craft beer and a souvenir glass. Grab your drinking pals for a perfect, fun yoga class in a unique experience followed by delicious Savannah beers!

Fort Pulaski will host a two-day living history event to commemorate the 154th anniversary of the battle for the Georgia fort. Activities will include soldier’s life programs, musket and cannon demonstrations, along with ranger led battle talks. Living historians will bring a unique prospective to life at this solitary masonry outpost.

6. Cotton & Rye’s Master Distiller Dinner
Cotton & Rye is combining classic cocktails with modern food at this rare event. Four Roses Bourbon’s master distiller, Brent Elliot, will be guiding guests through carefully crafted Four Roses Bourbon cocktails, while discussing the details of the distilling process and creation of bourbon. Cotton & Rye has prepared a special menu with dishes that wonderfully complement each bourbon cocktail. Eat, drink and learn all about bourbon from the master!

This unique event spotlights local bourbon from Savannah Bourbon, hand rolled cigars and everything Southern! At this interactive history lesson, you’ll explore technology from the past and compare it to contemporary living. 9. Sunday Supper in the Strawberry Patch
This event showcases the prized springtime fruit: the strawberry! This informal, traditional supper d features the first of Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens‘ strawberry harvest for the evening’s dessert! Optional late afternoon Gardens tours and welcome presentation lead in to the catered meal.

10. State of the Art: Savannah Style
Telfair is proud to showcase some of Savannah’s finest fashion designers as they join forces to create a stunning fashion show highlighting the contemporary styles of Savannah. In celebration of State of the Art, guests will have an opportunity to explore the exhibition, browse the designers’ pop-up shops and enjoy the fashion show.
